A violent brawl between two brothers in the municipality of Wodecq, in the Walloon province of Hainaut, led to the death of a man on Sunday.
One person was stabbed and later died in hospital. The suspect has been placed under arrest for murder, the Tournai Prosecutor’s Office announced on Wednesday.
At the end of the afternoon on Sunday, the case was still classified as “attempted murder” as the suspect had yet to succumb to his injuries. The victim died while the suspect was appearing before an investigating magistrate.
“As part of the acts committed this weekend in Wodecq, the investigating magistrate charged, yesterday, the suspect with murder,” the first deputy of the King’s prosecutor of Tournai, Frédéric Barisea, announced on Wednesday morning. The circumstances behind the fatal brawl between the brothers were not specified.

According to police reports, the violent brawl between the two siblings took place on Sunday at around 14:00 during a family get together at their parents’ home. For some reason, Salvatore Di Perri, the eldest of the family of five children, stabbed Silvano Di Perri, his younger brother, with several blows.
