The Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) has placed the province of Namur on code red for expected precipitation. Liège and Limburg remain orange for now but also expect heavy rain on Thursday.
According to RMI's calculations, the province of Namur could see more than 100 millilitres of rainfall over the next 24 hours. For this reason, the province has been put on code red. The provinces of Liège and Limburg may also experience torrential rain, though for less time, hence the code orange.
"We are issuing code red for Namur. According to the latest calculations, more than 100 millilitres could fall locally in 24 hours or more than 60 millilitres in 6 hours. These conditions may also occur to a lesser degree in western Liège and parts of Limburg, which therefore remain in orange for now," Head of Forecasting at the RMI, David Dehenauw, wrote on Twitter.
