Belgian police still looking for Fehriye Erdal 13 years later

Federal police have once again began looking for Fehriye Erdal, a Kurdish activist who spectacularly evaded Belgian security 13 years ago. The Sudpresse group and several Flemish papers revealed Erdal and another activist have been added to the federal police’s “Most Wanted” list.

Erdal fled from the refugee centre she was staying at in Belgium (which was under surveillance) in 2006. She is suspected of being behind the “Sabanci Centre” attack in Istanbul.

The extreme left-wing group DHKP-C (which Erdal was a member of) claimed responsibility for that attack. She was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison in 2017.

The second name added to the FAST’s (Fugitive Active Search Team) list is Leonardus Beaumont (71). He was convicted of killing his ex-wife on the 6th on May.

The Dutch fugitive is thought to have shot his ex-wife in the chest and head five times back in 2009.
