On Friday evening, around 30 administrative arrests occurred at the French Republic Square in Liège, following a call to protest after the death of French teenager Nahel earlier in the week.
There had been calls earlier in the day on social media for demonstrations in the centre of the city.
The Liège police initiated identity checks in the early evening at the French Republic Square. Despite the arrests, no significant disturbances or serious incidents took place.
Several cities across France have been hit by violence following the Tuesday death of Nahel, a 17-year-old boy, who was shot by a police officer during a control in Nanterre.
In Brussels, police carried out about 50 administrative arrests on Friday afternoon and evening, as part of an operation to prevent rioting following calls to gather in the city centre.
