A total of seven Delhaize stores remained closed on Saturday due to union actions.
The supermarket chain has been embroiled in a social conflict since March, after deciding to franchise all of its 128 stores that aren’t already.
Two stores located in the Brussels region, Hankar in Auderghem and Mozart in Uccle, have reopened. However, stores in Nivelles, Seraing and Embourg in Wallonia remain closed. This is also the case for several stores in East Flanders.
Since the conflict erupted, unions have been taking turns to shut down stores. The company has attempted to counteract this move through the courts. It is also regularly sending bailiffs to the impacted store locations, to establish a record of the blockages.
