Decathlon has recalled three inflatable buoys for babies over fears that they could lead to a "drowning risk", Le Soir reports.

The 'hammock' type floaties, made by the Nabaiji brand, have been urgently removed from sale from the company website. Decathlon has advised its customers to "no longer use the product."

The product recall affects all Decathlon stores internationally. Customers have been asked to return the products back to where they were purchased for a refund.

"We have identified a flipping risk," Decathlon explained. While all flotation devices risk flipping, the risk is greater for children's floats, as the child is physically attached to the buoy. The products claim that they will never flip for the child's safety.

The company specifies that "the buoys must be used with parents' supervision." Not willing to take "any risk with the safety of children" as a "precautionary principle", the company has decided to recall all the products.
