Several individuals were hospitalised during the “Rave the Planet” parade in Berlin on Saturday.
On Sunday, emergency services reported that they attended to 153 individuals, of whom 51 needed to be transported to the hospital.
The firefighters did not provide details about the conditions of those affected, but the capital experienced extreme heat over the weekend, with temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius. In response, some attendees even plunged into the River Spree.
Authorities estimate that approximately 200,000 individuals participated in the event, which is considered the spiritual successor to the Love Parade.
The festival hadn’t been organised since 2010, when tragic events in Duisburg led to the loss of 21 lives. In addition, hundreds of participants were injured during simultaneous crowd rushes in a tunnel.
