Two men who stole a bicycle on 30 March at Zaventem airport were sentenced on Wednesday to 12 months and two years in prison. The man who received the heaviest sentence had already stolen another bicycle.
Surveillance cameras had filmed the scene. The two suspects were leaving the airport when they stopped near a bicycle. One of them stood guard and the other forced the lock.
The two individuals were arrested a short time later. They denied being the perpetrators of the theft but, according to the court, the camera footage left little room for doubt. One of them was recognised because he had been filmed stealing another bike. As a result, he was sentenced to two years in prison, while his accomplice will serve twelve months in prison.
