Race organisers Spa Grand Prix, alongside the police and the mayors of Stavelot and Malmedy, presented the 2023 edition of the Spa-Francorchamps Formula 1 Grand Prix on Wednesday.
The event, which will be held at the end of July, is already sold out. Nearly 90% of the expected visitors are of foreign origin and around 50% of them come from the Netherlands, said Vanessa Maes, director of Spa Grand Prix.
“This year, we have decided to revamp the entertainment off the track. In particular, Belgian DJ Lost Frequencies will be present, while singer Antoine Delie will perform the national anthem,” said the director.
Another novelty is that the circuit will not be accessible on Thursday for weekend ticket holders. “This day will be reserved for associations and underprivileged children,” adds Vanessa Maes, who made this decision.
Scenes from an international film starring Brad Pitt will also be shot during the Grand Prix. However, the presence of the American actor remains uncertain.

This year, the event's capacity has been increased from 100,000 to 110,000 people. Such an influx of visitors represents around 40,000 vehicles, which has consequences in terms of mobility.
“We are urging spectators to leave early and not to rely on their GPS. They must follow the signs and the directions of the stewards,” insists Mr Martel, head of the Liège traffic police. The organisers also stress that it will be impossible to buy a parking ticket on site and that it is imperative that they book online.
“We’re hoping to put Belgium and Wallonia on the map internationally,” emphasises Vanessa Maes, who stresses the sustainable aspect of the event. “Everything will be recovered energetically, 80% of waste will be recycled and 75% of the containers served to visitors will be reusable glasses,” she concludes.
