One person was killed in a brawl between members of rival motorcycle clubs in Wallonia. He was reportedly hit by a vehicle twice.
A brawl between members of rival motorcycle clubs in Péronnes, a village in the province of Hainaut, left one dead on Friday night. In addition, a man was injured when he was hit with a hammer during a fight, and one person has been arrested.
The autopsy revealed that the 50-year-old victim was hit twice by a car: The driver hit him once, before making a U-turn and hitting the victim again. The prosecution assumes intent and premeditation and therefore the investigation is looking into attempted murder.
The man who was hit with a hammer during the fight was injured but he is not in mortal danger. Initial findings of the investigation indicate that it is a settlement between two motorcycle gangs.
Evacuation of party
The emergency services arrived at the scene at Chemin de St-Druon in Péronnes at around 01:30 on Friday night. A party was going on there in a tent, hosted by a professional organisation for young farmers. During the evening, a gang of motorcyclists arrived.
They immediately attacked a man outside the tent, while the other man was run over. The perpetrators then fled.
At the time of the brawl, about a thousand people were inside the marquee. They were evacuated by the police through an emergency exit. On police orders, all other festivities in the area have been cancelled this weekend.
Meanwhile, on Saturday night, police officers from the Bilzen-Hoeselt-Riemst local police and the federal police were on standby in Bilzen, in the Flemish province of Limburg, to prevent a party of infamous motorcycle club MC Kanun, which had been planned in an old empty café building.

The party, reportedly organised to inaugurate the clubhouse of a newly founded chapter, was banned by the mayor as the building itself did not meet fire safety standards. Police crews were on the scene to make it clear to members of the club that the party can indeed not take place, but in the end, no motorcyclists turned up.
