Authorities are looking for a driver who ran over and killed an unidentified pedestrian in Brussels and fled the scene, a police spokesperson announced Sunday according to reports.
The deadly hit-and-run took place in the early hours of Sunday in Brussels' Boulevard du Jardin Botanique, near the northern Place Rogier.
The victim died from his injuries on the spot. He has not yet been identified but police have said it was a caucasian man of between 20 and 30 years old, according to BX1.
Authorities with the public prosecutor and members of the scientific police arrived at the scene of the events moments after the hit-and-run took place at around 05:45 on Sunday.
A spokesperson with the Brussels-Ixelles police zone told local media that an investigation is ongoing to try to identify the driver of the vehicle.
"We are (...) questioning witnesses and [reviewing] images from cameras," the spokesperson told De Standaard.
