About 1,250 young Belgian Scouts will leave next weekend for the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea, the largest international youth camp in the world.
The 25th edition of the Jamboree, to be attended by 50,000 young people from 170 countries, will take place from 1 to 12 August in Saemangeum.
The Belgian contingent is made up of 28 units, each with 36 members aged between 14 and 18, and four leaders. The young scouts are members of one of Belgium’s five scout movements: Fédération des Scouts Baden-Powell de Belgique, Les Guides des Scouts and Guides Pluralistes de Belgique, FOS Open Scouting and Scouts en Gidsen Vlaanderen.
At the World Scout Jamboree, young people from all continents, cultures, religions, backgrounds and walks of life have an opportunity to learn what global brotherhood can mean by camping together.
“It goes without saying that current global humanitarian events deserve to be taken into account in the peacemaking nature of this world camp, where young people from all corners of the world will experience activities together,” the organisers said in a press release.
