A health warning has been issued after a number of ecstasy pills currently in Belgium were found to contain 200 mg of MDMA or more, making them potentially lethal.

Samples of the colourful pills - stylized to look like a pharaoh, the Tesla-logo, Donkey Kong, a skull, and the FC Barcelona and 'Punisher' logos - have been found to contain between 175 mg and 230 mg of MDMA per tablet. That quantity is dangerously high, says the warning from the Early Warning System on Drugs (BEWSD).

"Today, we see that three out of four Ecstacy pills contain more than 150 mg of MDMA. But in this case, the dose is even higher. Depending on the age and body weight of the user, they can be life-threatening," said Dr. Peter Blanckaert, who heads the Belgian Early Warning System Drugs Division to Het Nieuwsblad.
