The world-famous Tomorrowland festival has returned to Belgium, kicking off its seventeenth edition on Friday.

For three days this weekend, hundreds of DJs will once again take to the 15 stages in Boom, near Antwerp, which will be transformed into the dance capital of Europe.

The festival, which at the start of this year was named the world's best music festival in 2022, is recognised globally for "pushing the boundaries of production, imagination and curation," and for its incredulous stage designs. This year’s main stage is a Disney-inspired fairy-tale castle that, as usual, is wider than a football pitch.

The eye-catcher of the 43-metre-high stage is a white eagle. In addition, the castle is equipped with the necessary number of fountains and waterfalls. It took almost two months to build the entire main stage.

"People of Tomorrow, Welcome to Arcadiana. Let yourself be swept away by the magic of this mystical city. For centuries, this city has been protected from the outside world. But today, that changes. The gates of the city will be opened! Now let the journey begin, Witness Arcadiana’s hidden world within," the organisers wrote on Twitter.

In addition to top international acts such as Martin Garrix and Tiësto, the festival will also feature many Belgian DJs. Among others, Amelie Lens, Anouk Matton, Amber Broos, Netsky and Omdat het kan soundsystem ft. Average Rob.

Police have warned ticket-holders to be vigilant and protect their valuables, or better still, leave them at home, as they expect pickpockets once again to be active on site.

The police are also calling on festival-goers to report any incident to the police. As in the past, police will also implement a no-fly zone for drones during Tomorrowland.

This year, tickets reserved for the Belgian public sold out almost immediately. Both the tickets reserved for the Belgian public and the international (pre-sale) tickets were sold out in no time. The festival will take place from Friday 21 until Sunday 23 and Friday 28 until Sunday 30.
