Union Saint-Gilloise will make an enormous profit on the sale of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface to the German side Bayer Leverkusen, RTBF reports.
Victor Boniface, who arrived from FK Bodø/Glimt in Norway, will leave Union after just one year with the Brussels club. In a press release, Union Saint-Gilloise referred to "a record fee" for the transfer.
The Union management attracted the imposing striker in the summer of 2022 for €2 million, which was a considerable sum for a club of Union's size. However, Boniface quickly proved to be a winning bet having starred in the club's European adventure last season.
The Nigerian scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists in 55 matches. In the Europa League quarter-finals, Boniface also crossed paths with Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League, who were clearly impressed with his talents.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the two sides have agreed a transfer fee of around €20m (without bonuses).
The Nigerian striker left for Germany on Saturday morning and has signed a contract until 2028, after he passed the medical tests with Leverkusen. Union are set to receive 10 times more than what they paid for him last season.
