Thalys trains will only be able to resume normal service from this weekend, the company's spokesman said on Friday to Belga.
"Traffic has been disrupted over the past two days due to exceptional weather conditions," said Mattias Baertsoen of the press office. "On Thursday, an overhead wire problem and a permanent reduction in speed to 80 km/h on the Belgian network caused many delays and the breakdown of some trains. In order not to overload the trains in these exceptional circumstances, Thalys was forced to temporarily stop the sale of tickets on all lines;
"On Friday, the situation is gradually returning to normal on the network, but there are still major disruptions to be expected," the spokesman added. "That's why we continue to ask travellers to postpone their travel as much as possible."
The most up to date information on trains can be found on the Thalys website and app, the company recommends.
