The extraordinary world of Tim Burton, famous for his films Edward Scissorhands and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, will feature at Tour & Taxis in Brussels this autumn with a new exhibition.
After Madrid and Paris, "Tim Burton's Labyrinth" will descend onto the Belgian capital from 20 October. The immersive experience exhibition consists of a one-hour route mapped out like a literal labyrinth, allowing people to choose their own path.
The exhibition, which will be set up at the Tour & Taxis venue, gives film lovers the chance to explore the distinct universe of the director, widely seen as a genius and known for his quirkiness, as well as his favourite characters and environments from his wide filmography.
"Walk through the dark and magical forest of The Funeral, (re)discover the colourful characters of Edward Scissorhands, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Beetlejuice, and lose yourself in the incredible world of Alice in Wonderland and Mr. Jack's Christmas," the description of the expo reads.
The films' different themes will be explored through props such as set reproductions and costumes, over 150 original drawings and designs – before becoming a director, Burton's genius was expressed through these art forms – as well as animated artworks, and by utilising technology, lights, sound, and scenography from his movies.
The filmmaker also came to Belgium with another exhibition, "The World of Tim Burton," five years ago. It was on show at C-Mine in Genk and is now located at The National Museum of Cinema at the Mole Antonelliana in Torino, Italy.
The exhibition will run in Tour & Taxis from 20 October 2023 until 4 February 2024. Get pre-sale access to tickets here.
