Delhaize announced a second round of 17 own-managed shops to be taken over by independent operators at a works council meeting on Monday.
A quarter of the 128 supermarkets due to be franchised now have an independent buyer.
These 17 shops will be transformed into independent Delhaize supermarkets in the coming weeks and will open in November, December and January next year. They include shops in Verviers, Tournai, Ath and Mons in Wallonia, and Roodebeek and Fort Jaco in Brussels.
Delhaize announced the list of the first 15 franchised supermarkets at the beginning of August.
