The current One.brussels-Vooruit party will head towards the Brussels polls in the 2024 regional elections with a new name: Vooruit.brussels.

During Vooruit's Brussels congress this weekend, former State Secretary Pascal Smet explained the link between Vooruit and the .brussels brand.

"We have helped change Brussels in recent years and took responsibility. We dare and we do. The work is not yet finished, I am confident that our strong Vooruit.brussels team can really push Brussels forward," Smet said.

For the socialists, the new logo fits in better with the party's national design, but adds "a look and feel of its own" because of the .brussels extension. "This emphasises the specific metropolitan interpretation we have in mind."

The name one.brussels-Vooruit dates back to 2019, when Smet (then Mobility Minister for Brussels) put together a list for the regional elections with members of Vooruit (then still called SP.A) and independents.

Earlier, current Brussels State Secretary for Urbanism Ans Persoons came up with a list in the municipal elections, under the name Change.Brussels. By distancing herself from the Vooruit parent party, Persoons attracted a lot of new faces and became a city councillor.

Later, Change.Brussels merged into one.brussels-Vooruit.
