Film Fest Ghent 2023 will sell circular merchandise to mark its 50th anniversary, with this year's promo items being made in local bespoke shops.
This year's Film Fest Ghent will take place from 10 until 21 October and the festival will celebrate its 50th edition – an anniversary accompanied by a new house style. This also means a change in promotional materials: instead of throwing the materials away, they will given a second life as gadgets for fans.
The Ghent film festival is having limited edition bags, document covers, flower pots and notebooks made under the banner FFG Remake. The merchandise products have been developed from used posters, seat covers, banners, canvases, flags, cloths and recycled paper.
Industrial Product Design students at Howest gave the items a second life, guided by Ghent-based design label Perfect. The items were manufactured in bespoke workshops DBSE (Services Company Social Economy of the City of Ghent and OCMW Ghent) and at Ghent's Forensic Psychiatric Centre.
The items are sold without profit; Film Fest Gent aspires to break even with the new, limited edition merchandise.
