The miniature art exhibition 'Small is Beautiful' will open in Brussels' Grand Place at the end of October, bringing endearing pocked-sized artwork to the Belgian capital for the first time.

After unprecedented success in New York, London and Paris (with over 200,000 visitors in total), 'Small is Beautiful' is finally coming to Belgium. From Friday 20 October until the end of the year, tourists and locals will be able to appreciate artwork on a petite scale as the first international museum devoted entirely to miniature art arrives in the city centre.

There will be over 100 tiny and highly-detailed works of art on display, as well as over 80 photographs, created by more than 18 artists from around the world, including Slinkachu, Vincent Bal, Minimiam and Samsofy. The artists take "a playful approach to challenge an overly serious world," the exhibition's website states.

Miniature art plays with scale and viewpoint to bring out the viewer's inner child by encouraging us to see the world from a unique angle.

From hyper-realistic figurines in rediscovering everyday life, to micro-art that can only be seen through a magnifying glass or microscope, the artists delve into current social issues and invite visitors to question their perspectives.

As well as the artwork, there will be DIY workshops, a video area dedicated to miniature art and a shop for collectors. Children can also participate in a treasure hunt and enjoy finding five miniatures hidden in the Slinkachu exhibition trail, Bruxelles Secrète notes. The exhibition takes approximately one hour.

Ticket prices start at €12.80 and will be released at 12:00 on Thursday 28 September. For more information, see here.
