A two-for-one ticket campaign has been launched for six Flemish films to highlight home-grown talent in the camera.
In collaboration with producers, distributors and cinema operators, the Flemish Audiovisual Fund (VAF) is once again running the campaign 'Flemish film. Boundless cinema'. This includes a 1+1 ticket campaign for six Flemish films that will be released this autumn and continue to spring 2024.
'Wil', a feature film by Tim Mielants starring Matteo Simoni, will kick off the campaign on Monday 9 October. The other films are 'Het Smelt', 'Holly', 'J'aime la vie', 'Here' and 'Holy Rosita'. Some of these films already received awards and praise reviews at prestigious film festivals.
The two-for-one ticket promotion will start for each film one to two weeks after it has been released and is available only Monday to Thursday.
The same campaign ran last year, resulting in a historic year for Flemish cinema. 43 cinemas from 30 different municipalities issued 22,893 free tickets and overall welcomed 1,827,175 moviegoers. Their ticket sales were two to three times the usual level during the campaign periods.
"With this action, VAF gives the cinemas and the makers another push because they deserve the widest possible audience," said Flemish minister-president and Minister of Culture Jan Jambon.

The campaign follows the We Love Cinema Days, organised from Wednesday 20 to Saturday 23 September, during which the public could buy tickets to any screening in participating cinemas across the country for just €6, and J’peux pas, j’ai cinéma, which saw independent cinemas in Brussels and Wallonia offer 21,000 tickets for the price of €1.
The Film and Audiovisual Centre of the French Community of Belgium (FWB) announced that the first tickets went on sale on Wednesday.
