From 18 October to 14 January 2024, the exhibition Victor Horta et la grammaire de l’art nouveau (Victor Horta and the grammar of Art Nouveau) will be presented at Bozar in Brussels, in collaboration with the Musée Horta.

The exhibition is being organised to mark the Year of Art Nouveau 2023 and looks at the unique architectural approach of Belgian architect Victor Horta.

Through archive documents, photographs, plans and original sketches and models, visitors will be able to get an idea of the foundations of the architectural language of Victor Horta (1861-1947).

Several of Horta’s projects will be on show, including the Tassel house, the Waucquez department stores’ and the Bozar Palace of Fine Arts itself.

"The Palais des Beaux-Arts, located in the centre of Brussels, can be considered one of the high points of Horta’s career and is therefore an ideal place to highlight the work of one of Belgium’s most influential architects," said Bozar in a press release.

Over nine rooms, the grammar and history of Horta’s art nouveau will be conveyed, with particular attention paid to the period and historical context. Contemporary works will also be on display, providing a contemporary perspective on Horta’s work.

The exhibition is organised by Benjamin Zurstrassen, curator of the Musée Horta, and Iwan Strauven, professor of architectural theory at the ULB.
