A primary school and secondary school in Flanders, as well as another school in Wallonia, have been evacuated following bomb threats, regional media reports.
In Flanders, the SJIBke and SJIB schools in Betekom (Flemish Brabant) were evacuated after someone left a note containing a bomb threat on Thursday morning.
"All our services are on site and are combing the buildings," Jan Van Avont from the BRT police zone told Het Nieuwsblad. "A dog specialising in explosives was also dispatched to the scene. It could be a prank, but we cannot rule anything out."
In total, the school evacuated 700 students from its primary and secondary to a neighbourhood sports hall. A supermarket and apartment complex across the street from the school were also evacuated as a precaution.
In Wallonia, the Institut Saint-Marie was also evacuated under similar circumstances, Sudinfo reports. Jacques Gobert, the city mayor, said that the situation at the school was "under control."
Ostend Airport and several airports across France were also evacuated on Wednesday and Thursday following bomb threats, as well as two squares in Ghent after the discovery of a suspicious package.
