More than a million vaccines against Covid-19 have already been administered during Flanders' autumn vaccination campaign, regional Health Minister Hilde Crevits (CD&V) said on Friday.
More than 2.8 million vaccines are available in the north of the country for this new vaccination campaign. To date, nearly 1.9 million doses have been ordered by local vaccinators (general practitioners and pharmacists).
Most of the vaccines have been administered by GPs (535,138), followed by pharmacists (250,527) and residential care centres (74,297). Tens of thousands of vaccines were also delivered to hospitals and other care facilities.
Vaccination is recommended for all people aged 65 or over, people with weakened immune systems or certain health problems, pregnant women and healthcare workers – amounting to some two million people in Flanders.
