On Friday, the Belgian Council of Ministers officially recognised the 16 October attack in Brussels as an act of terrorism.
Federal ministers approved a proposal for a Royal Decree signed by Justice Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne, according to a press release.
This recognition will enable victims and their relatives to receive assistance from the Victims’ Aid Commission.
The terror attack on Monday evening killed two people and wounded one, all of Swedish nationality on the way to watch Sweden play Belgium at the Roi Baudouin Stadium.
Among those killed in the attack were 60-year-old Patrick Lundström, a dedicated football fan. The second victim was fellow football fan 70-year-old Kent Persson. The third victim man is recovering from his wounds and was visited by the Swedish Prime Minister on Wednesday night in hospital.
The perpetrator later claimed in a video that he was a supporter of ISIS. He was shot dead on Tuesday morning by the police.
