Hidden Belgium: 30CC

Hidden Belgium: 30CC

In 2005 Leuven decided to bundle its cultural venues together under a single name. So they became known as 30CC because, someone argued at the time, it sounded ‘snappy and modern’ but also like ‘the engine of a clapped-out motorbike’.

The 30CC programme now covers theatre, dance, book readings and music performances in venues across the city. The main cultural events are held in the grand city theatre. But the programme features events in more than 20 buildings across Leuven and the suburbs, including a restored Gothic church, a wooden velodrome and a former factory.
