Belgian-Italian singer Salvatore Adamo has cancelled his performance at Ancienne Belgique in Brussels on 1 November, as confirmed on his official Facebook page.
“I was overly optimistic about returning to the stage soon; I still need rest,” he announced in a handwritten note shared on the social media platform.
Recently, the artist had to cancel multiple gigs in Mons, Roubaix and Paris, citing the need for more rest. He reassured fans he is recovering from a health issue, which he emphasises requires time and patience.
In a prior Facebook post ahead of a performance at Paris’ Grand Rex on 18th October, the singer discussed his health challenges. He revealed having faced problems due to pouring “all his passion and energy” into music, sometimes “beyond limits”.
Salvatore Adamo would have celebrated his 80th birthday on the day of the gig, 1 November 2023. Having sold more than 80 million albums and 20 million singles worldwide, he remains the best-selling Belgian artist of all time.
