A bomb threat has been reported by the European Parliament security services, which has led to the temporary closure of the Parc Leopold in the European Quarter on Friday morning. Around 11:30, the park reopened.

The park, located behind the European Parliament, has been shut down by police who were investigating the threat. Staff at the Parliament were sent a Crisis Alert text on Friday morning, with some sharing the text message online.

The text sent to EP staff.

None of the buildings of the Parliament were impacted, but staff was being asked to remain cautious even if there was "no immediate threat."

The bomb threat was reported at Emile Jacqmain High School, located in the heart of the European quarter, on Friday morning. The school was evacuated and a safety perimeter, established by the Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police, was set up but has now been lifted.

"The search turned up negative, so the perimeter has been lifted," a police spokesperson told The Brussels Times. "The pupils have been allowed back in the school and Parc Leopold has reopened."

On Friday, a separate bomb threat was also issued to General Roi Baudouin College in Schaerbeek, but there is no indication that the two would be linked.
