Around 40 civil society groups, unions, and NGOs will hold a 'European March for Palestine' in Brussels on Saturday with the goal of pressuring the European Union and its Member States to support an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
The march will begin at 14:00 at Brussels North station and will aim to arrive at Brussels-Midi station by 16:30.
It will include representatives from the Belgian-Palestinian Association, the Union of Progressive Jews of Belgium (UPJB), CNCD-11.11.11, the Christian Workers’ Movement (MOC), Women's Life, the General Federation of Belgian Labour (FGTB), and the Confederation of Christian Trade Unions (CSC).
Omar Barghouti, the co-founder of the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement, and Salah Hamouri, a Franco-Palestinian lawyer who was deported from Israel in December 2022, are also expected to attend.
The organisers have warned that "any support for war crimes or attacks on civilians, or any expression of antisemitism or any other form of racism will result in exclusion from the demonstration".
