The Brussels Prosecution Service has launched an investigation into three bomb threats made at local schools.

The threats were reported on Friday morning, according to the spokesperson of the prosecution service, Yasmina Vanoverschelde.

Police from Brussels-Capital-Ixelles and Brussels-North received bomb alerts at Lycée Emile Jacqmain on Rue Belliard, Collège des Etoiles in Haren, and Collège Roi Baudouin in Schaarbeek.

Immediate action was taken to create a safety zone and evacuate the three schools. An explosives-trained dog was also called to the scene.

After a thorough search and pat-down, no explosives were found, and the safety zone was lifted, allowing students to return.

The prosecution service is vigorously pursuing its enquiries to identify the perpetrators. They have warned that false bomb threats carry severe penalties, including three months to two years in prison, and fines ranging from €400 to €2,400.
