Belgium’s Prime Minister, Alexander De Croo and his Spanish counterpart, Pedro Sanchez, will visit Israel and the Palestinian territories on Wednesday.
The two leaders are aiming to discuss the Gaza war with political leaders, as well as to extend their sympathies to the victims of the Hamas terror attack, the hostages and their families – and the Palestinian victims facing the military operation in Gaza.
The two leaders will also discuss the increased violence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
Overall, the visit will focus on de-escalating violence in the region, enabling humanitarian aid, respecting international humanitarian law, and pursuing a sustainable political solution.
Both premiers are expected to return on Friday. Spain currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, but Belgium will take over in January
