US fast-food giant McDonald’s has announced plans to increase the number of its restaurants worldwide from over 41,000 today to about 50,000 by 2027.
The company disclosed its expansion aims at an investor day in Chicago, planning substantial investment in process automation and service speed improvement.
Last summer witnessed an unexpected boost in the company’s sales and profit, driven by successful home delivery sales and well-executed advertising campaigns.
McDonald’s forecasts close to 2% sales growth next year and projects a 2.5% increase after that.
The firm expects a global turnover of $45 billion by 2027.
