Belgian police are seeking information that could be relevant to an unsolved case of a man’s death in September 1996.

The deceased man, was between the age of 25 and 35 at the time of his death, and was discovered along a dirt path near the ‘Sahara’ neighbourhood in Lommel, located in the province of Limburg.

The man clearly died as a result of violent physical traumas, and his body was moved post-mortem to the location where it was found, the Limburg prosecutor’s office says.

The victim was approximately 1.65m tall, athletically built, with dark chestnut medium-length hair. Notably, his right front incisor was missing.

He had multiple tattoos, including an eagle on his upper left arm, a female figure on the upper right arm, the word ‘HERA’ etched on the upper right wrist, another word ‘MEZDUN’ inside the right wrist, and a small dolphin on the left chest.

There was also an H-shaped scar from a removed tattoo.

On the day of his death, the man wore black jeans by C&A, with the label ‘Regular fit straight’, a long-sleeved pink/purple shirt by ‘No-Excess’, a white ‘Guerrier’ branded t-shirt, white underwear by C&A and blue socks.

The police appeal comes as part of operation ‘Cemetery’, aiming to solve long-standing cold cases in Belgium.
