The city of Ghent has decided to cancel the New Year's fireworks due to poor weather forecasts.
The Royal Meteorological Institute anticipates heavy rain and showers on Sunday, accompanied by strong winds potentially reaching 60 to 70 km/h.
Consequently, Ghent decided to call off the planned fireworks display. Hasselt made the same decision on Saturday.
East Flanders has also banned individuals from setting off fireworks across the province.
