Belgian actor Julien Paschal (46) is playing an important role in the Netflix series 'Berlin,' a prequel to the Spanish series La casa de papel (known internationally as Money Heist), which premiered on the streaming platform at the end of 2023.

Paschal plays the role of François Polignac, the director of a Parisian stock exchange where the 434 diamonds coveted by Berlin, played by Pedro Alonso, are kept.

Originally from the city of Vervies (Liège), Paschal began his career on the big screen only six years ago and this is his first major role. Previously, he also appeared in the Spanish series "Antidisturbios" and as an extra in the video clip for "Tout oublier" by Angèle and Roméo Elvis, as well as a handful of commercials.

However, Paschal initially did not pursue a career as an actor. He graduated as a sound engineer, and became the drummer of a band called Juniper Boots – which had signed a contract with the dEUS record label, L'Echo reports.

With Juniper Boots, he performed at Botanique, Ancienne Belgique, the Dour Festival and the Bataclan in Paris. At the same time, he worked as a sound engineer backstage on records by Baloji, Ghinzu and dEUS, among others.

However, movies and television were never far away, as he also mixed the soundtracks for films such as "Evil Dead", "The Yellow Birds" starring Jennifer Aniston and "Sils Maria" starring Juliette Binoche, for example.

Now, following his role in 'Berlin,' the actor has already received several new offers in different countries, various Francophone media report. Whether he will be back to reprise his role as Polignac for a second season, however, is not yet known.
