An exhibition featuring works by Leonardo da Vinci, will be held in Liège from 24 February until 30 June 2024.
Spanning more than 2,000 sq. m, the exhibition aims to highlight why da Vinci, born in 1452 in the small Tuscan village of Vinci (Italy), is still considered one of the greatest geniuses in history with his numerous roles as an inventor, architect, theorist, painter, anatomist, mathematician, and more.
The display will showcase the complete collection of codices (the precursors to modern books) by the man who once wrote, “I intend to leave an indelible memory in the minds of mortals.”
Visitors can marvel at the most exquisite sketches selected from the 7,000 pages of the master’s preserved works.
The exhibition will reveal insights and sketches from various fields such as geology, optics, anatomy, mathematics, mechanics, physics, and astronomy.
Exhibits will specifically feature the Arundel, Atlanticus and Leicester codices, owned by Bill Gates, according to the organisers.
The exhibition will also trace Leonardo da Vinci's life through his meetings.
His inventions and his taste for gastronomy will be highlighted using 3D images and reconstructions.
