Two men suspected of abducting an individual in Schaerbeek were arrested on Monday in Ronse, East Flanders, as confirmed by the Brussels Prosecutor’s Office.
On 15 January 2024 around 13:20, Brussels-North police zone received a call reporting an adult male’s kidnapping in Schaerbeek’s Terdelt neighbourhood. "The victim’s family, who alerted the police, indicated that the event could be related to a disagreement," explained the prosecution.
Investigations led by the police allowed the suspects and the victim to be located, as they were heading towards Ronse in East Flanders.
"Due to collaboration between the Brussels-North police zone and Ronse police zone, the two suspects were apprehended around 15:50," the prosecution continued. "They were arrested and taken to a precinct in the Brussels-North zone in Evere for questioning. The victim was also brought in for questioning. The vehicle used in the kidnapping was seized for further investigation."
The suspects were brought before the Brussels Prosecutor’s Office, which assigned a magistrate to conduct the investigation. "Following questioning by the judge, they were released as the investigation continues," the prosecution added.
