Established in 1803, predating even the formation of the Belgian state, the iDSB has held the designation of an Excellent German School Abroad since 2008 and boasts a diverse student body with representation from over 30 nationalities.
Consequently, linguistic diversity and intercultural dialogue play integral roles in shaping the school's vibrant everyday life. It serves as a hub for encounters and cross-cultural exchanges.
From early childhood education to the Abitur, the iDSB provides a tailored educational path for every child.
In addition to the German International Baccalaureate, students can pursue specialized baccalaureate programs and intermediate school leaving certificates.
For the youngest learners, the journey begins in the crèche at just 3 months old, progressing to the bilingual kindergarten with pre-school at the age of 3. In small, nurturing groups, children receive individualized attention, with the option of German-English or German-French bilingual groups.
The primary school continues to prioritize linguistic diversity, offering instruction not only in German but also allowing students to choose between English and French as foreign languages.
Recognizing the growing international character, the iDSB provides a German language support program. These tailored lessons address each child's unique needs, structured systematically to enhance language proficiency and ensure success in the German school system.
The high school curriculum encompasses up to five languages, along with Science and Music/Art subjects. Emphasizing not only subject expertise but also methodological skills, independence, and a strong sense of community, the iDSB fosters an enriching learning environment.
The school offers a variety of graduation options, including the German International 'Abitur,' General Technical University Entrance Qualification (Fachhochschulreife), Realschule degree, or intermediate school leaving certificate (mittlerer Bildungsabschluss), ensuring students are well-prepared for their diverse futures.
Afternoon activities at iDSB include nearly 30 work groups in theater, music, sports, art, and language development. Talented students have the chance to participate in national and international projects and competitions.
The iDSB is hosting a digital open day on March 7 - interested individuals can register directly here (under "Admission").
Families are also warmly invited to a school tour and to schedule an appointment for a consultation, please contact the Welcome Office at aufnahme@idsb.eu.
