Gent Jazz has announced that the second day of this year's festival will be headlined by French band AIR. Israeli Asaf Avidan will also be welcomed to the stage on 10 July.
With three new festival days and 13 extra names, this year's edition – which runs from 5 July to 20 July – is set to be one of the best yet.
Organisers have already revealed a vast collection of established jazz artists that will be taking to the stage throughout the two week festival. These include Rodrigo y Gabriela, Luz Casal and Eliades Ochoa, Sofiane Pamart, Birdy and Laufey, Asaf Avidan, Erik Truffaz, Gabriel Ríos, Cimafunk, Stef Kamil Carlens, Marco Mezquida Trio and Gabi Hartmann.
AIR's electric performance on 18 July is already sold out. However, they will be back on stage the following day (19 July) at the Bijloke site.
Previous years have featured world-renowned artists such as Gregory Porter, Van Morrison and Tom Jones.
Since its creation in 2002, the festival has returned annually to Flanders. The event aims to present an array of established musicians, alongside emerging artists on the jazz scene.
Gent Jazz also prides itself on providing a space for young musicians and alternative art forms, creating a festival that is inclusive, encouraging and inspiring to its audience.
The festival will welcome acts on two stages this year, the Main Stage and the Garden Stage. The Main Stage features legendary names in jazz, while the Garden Stage welcomes more experimental sounds in an open air setting.
This year's festival runs from Friday 5 July to Saturday 20 July 2024. Tickets are already on sale on the festival's official website.
