The eighth Bright Festival, Brussels' festival of lights, attracted no fewer than 500,000 spectators over four consecutive evenings, 100,000 more than last year. With Europe as the theme, the light installations this year reflected the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Some 40 installations by national and international artists took centre stage in the Royal and European districts from 15 to 18 February. This year, the theme of Europe inspired several of the works, as Belgium currently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union.
Among the 500,000 people who took part in the light show were 250,000 Brussels residents and 25% foreign tourists.
In addition to this glittering programme, visitors could extend their night-time escapade with guided tours and the Bright Disco Night, which welcomed two thousand people to the Galerie Ravenstein.
"The many artists taking part this year, the cultural and tourist partners, and the special attention paid to active mobility are all factors that contribute to the success of the Bright Festival. It's a great way to once again showcase the Brussels-Capital Region on a national and international level", points out the regional tourism agency Visit.brussels in a press release published on Monday.
The 9th edition of the Bright Festival will take place from 13 to 16 February 2025.
