King Philippe is set to address the European Parliament at a ceremonial plenary session in Brussels on 10 April, as per a planned meeting agenda seen by Belga News Agency on Thursday.
This is the first time the Belgian King will partake in this duty, coinciding with Belgium's term at the helm of the Council of the European Union.
His predecessor, King Baudouin, had spoken at the plenary session back in 1987 in Strasbourg.
King Philippe's speech will be delivered in Brussels, within the framework of a "mini-plenary" session, a smaller scale event the Parliament organises three to four times a year over two days.
