Antwerp International School (AIS): Educate | Inspire | Empower

Since 1967, AIS has offered world-leading, holistic education in a multicultural, respectful and safe environment. Our committed young learners work hard, both inside and outside of the classroom.

Antwerp International School (AIS): Educate | Inspire | Empower

Accredited by the International Baccalaureate, AIS offers the internationally recognised Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP), providing young learners with a high-quality education in a rigorous, yet supportive surrounding.

With over 40 nationalities represented in our diverse student body, there is room for everyone in our caring and welcoming community. While English is the language of instruction, we encourage our students to embrace their unique heritage and culture.

Home away from home

AIS is a small school where big things happen. Located in the leafy suburbs just north of Antwerp, our school provides a haven away from the busy city while still well-connected by train and bus networks. Parents also have the opportunity to thrive in our close-knit community, with a variety of activities provided and run by other parents including English classes, Pilates, Booster Club, Costume Department and even Bootcamp.

We know that our young learners spend much of their time at school; it’s where they will learn to connect and collaborate with others. We take this knowledge seriously and are dedicated to providing holistic education to our students. With a student-to-teacher ratio of 7.1:1, you can be confident that your child is being provided with personalised attention to their learning needs and goals.

AIS is committed to creating a better future for all. This includes taking the necessary steps to make sustainable and environmentally conscious decisions in our school. This year, our students have reinstated the community garden where fruits and vegetables grown on campus will be served in the Bistro. New compost bins will provide an ecologically friendly solution to on-campus food waste to then nurture the soil in our garden. We have newly installed solar panels, with plans to expand, to help alleviate our reliance on other forms of energy. We believe instilling a culture of sustainability and respect for the environment will help encourage students to leave our school with an understanding of how small changes can create a big impact on the world.

Educate | Inspire | Empower

Learning is both a process and a product, deeply intertwined with and ingrained in our human uniqueness. As individual learners, we grow continuously by interacting with our environment in a way that changes us.

At AIS we believe in inquiry-based learning, challenging and supporting learners to construct their understanding. Starting with even our youngest learners, we foster natural curiosity and encourage the pursuit of knowledge both individually and as a group.

Our campus features a state-of-the-art gymnasium, a 350-seat theatre and new STEM facilities. The STEMzone provides the ideal environment to encourage creativity, innovation, analytical thinking and collaboration through STEM studies. It features science labs, fabrication labs, makerspaces, mathematics areas, IT spaces and common collaborative learning spaces where our students get to engage in hands-on learning and collaboration.

Outside of STEM studies, students are provided with many opportunities in the arts and athletics to hone their skills and creativity. Through our strong arts, academics and athletics programmes, AIS supports all students in becoming well-rounded, forward-looking individuals, ready to enter the world beyond school.

In recent years, some of our students have received offers from the University of Oxford, King’s College London, Imperial College London, New York University and many other prestigious post-secondary colleges. During their final two years, our students work closely with an on-campus university counsellor who guides students through the application process to ensure their best chances of success in their future.
