Two suspects – the suspected shooter and an accomplice – have been arrested in the investigation into a shooting in the Brussels municipality of Schaerbeek last month, the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office announced.
The Brussels North police zone carried out three house searches on Tuesday in the context of a shooting in which two people were injured that took place on 24 February on Place Lehon in Schaerbeek.
"It concerns a 32-year-old and a 19-year-old man. One is suspected to be the shooter and the other is suspected to be an accomplice," said Yasmina Vanoverschelde, spokesperson for the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office. During the searches, several items were seized as well, including a car that was allegedly used during the shooting.
"Yesterday, the suspects were brought before the investigating judge, who decided to place both under arrest for attempted murder as perpetrator and co-perpetrator," she added.
In the meantime, the investigation continues. The Public Prosecutor's Office will not communicate further as long as it is ongoing.
