A 59-year-old man was accidentally run over by his wife in the Flemish town of Dworp, leading to his tragic death, according to the Halle-Vilvoorde prosecutor’s office.
The incident happened at about 7h30 am on Saturday on Boomgaardstraat in the Beersel municipality.
The couple were on their friends’ driveway when the wife mistakenly mis-manoeuvred the car, causing her husband to be swept underneath it.
An emergency medical team was swiftly on the scene but were unable to save the man, who died there on the spot.
Sabine Lievens from the Halle-Vilvoorde prosecutor’s office stated that “Since the circumstances of the death were immediately clear, there wasn’t a need to demand a forensic doctor or traffic expert.” The site of the accident was also promptly cleared.
