A significant fire decimated a vacant building in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre on Tuesday morning, according to the Brussels Fire Brigade, with no injuries reported.
The fire was reported at approximately 07:30 on Rue Jean Wellens. Firefighters arrived to find flames engulfing the first of the two-story building, which also housed a commercial space on its ground floor.
The building, currently under renovation, was unoccupied. However, two neighbouring residences were evacuated for safety.
The spokesperson for the fire brigade confirmed the cause of the fire was accidental. While the fire was successfully contained, the wooden flooring of the first floor had to be destroyed to completely extinguish the flames.
