Some 182 terrorists, terrorist accomplices, hate preachers and radicalized individuals, that have been sentenced since the rise of Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, and the beginning of the war in Syria, have been released. These figures have been requested from the Minister of Justice, Koen Geens (New Flemish Alliance), by the Alternative Socialists deputy, Annick Lambrecht, and are reported on Friday by De Tijd.
The majority of them (74) are people that feature within the terrorist database, and that intelligence services will now have to monitor as a priority.
Currently, 230 terrorists or those sentenced for acts of terrorism are imprisoned in Belgium. A total of 24 of them are held in the top-security wings, Reradex in Hasselt and in Ittre.
