With the Tour de France set to ride out of Brussels this summer, residents can expect traffic in the city to be heavily disrupted, as a number of roads and parking spaces will be closed down and public transport lines affected.
On the weekend of July 6 and 7, travelling through the city by car is not recommended, as many important roads and avenues on the cyclists' trail will be closed down and parking will not be permitted.
"Roads will be completely closed and there will be a parking ban," Inge Paemen of Brussels Mobility told Bruzz.
Rue Dansaert, Boulevard Leopold II and Boulevard Louis Mettewie will be shut down on Saturday morning from 7:00 AM and is set to be reopened at around 14:00 at the latest.
Between 14:00 and 19:00, Rue de la Loi, Avenue de Tervueren, Avenue de la Reine and a section of the city's small inner-ring road will be shut down to traffic.
On Sunday, from 6:00 AM and until 19:00 in the evening, Boulevard du Souverain, Boulevard Géneral Jacques, Boulevard Lambermont and Rue de la Loi will be closed.
Public transport is also set to be affected, with STIB public transport operator recommending residents to take the metro and the train —or e-scooters— over bus and tram lines.
More detailed information about the impact of the race on the city can be found in the official Brussels Grand Depart.
