The Comic Strip Gallery in Brussels will host the world's first exhibition and sale dedicated to original illustrations from the animated television series, Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z, from 7 June to 6 July, it announced on Wednesday.
The original anime drawings, created by animators from the famous Japanese studio Toei, will be on show and on sale for prices ranging from €200 to €3,000.
"These drawings were used in the production of one of the most famous cartoons of all time and can be considered as major works of art in pop culture," said the Comic Strip Gallery in a press release.
Dragon Ball, a manga created by Akira Toriyama in 1984, has sold over 260 million copies worldwide. It was adapted into Dragon Ball and then Dragon Ball Z, broadcast from 1988 on the French television programme 'Club Dorothée'.
The gallery underlined the "importance" that the creator of this work had in the lives of cartoonists around the world by highlighting the many tributes paid to him by fans and artists after his death on 1 March 2024.
