Single people in Brussels can enjoy a casual drink this Saturday evening in an event which ditches the pressure to meet 'the one' in the name of expanding social circles.
The 'Singles Apéro' is a monthly encounter which aims to bring "social singles" together in a safe space without the pressures or expectations of dating events. The social evenings are organised by Full Circle, a group devoted to building community and sharing ideas.
The idea for the singles' drinks started a few years ago when Valentine's Day fell on a Friday. "Several of us thought it was annoying because single people felt they would have to stay in on a Friday night," Full Circle's co-founder Louise Hilditch told The Brussels Times.
Since then, the 'Singles Apéro' has become a consistently popular event at Full Circle, attracting expats and locals alike.
While exclusively dedicated to those 'flying solo', the aim of the event isn't to 'match' people, but rather to create new connections. "Our philosophy is much more: to meet 'someone', you have to meet people," said Hilditch.
This month's apéro will be followed by the Brussels Rhythm and Blues Club live concert and jam session. Attendees of the apéro can join through a €10 ticket upgrade.
The event will take place from 19:00 to 21:00 on Saturday 16 November at the Full Circle House in Ixelles. For more information and tickets, see here.
